GOMBE FLAGS-OFF DISTRIBUTION OF 3RD, 4TH BATCHES OF CHILDREN COMPLEMENTARY FOOD
The Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Gombe State Dr. Aishatu Umar Maigari has flagged-off distribution of 3rd and 4th Quarters Children Complementary Food produced by her Ministry.
The event took place at Jekadafari Primary Health Care Center, Gombe on 11th August, 2021.
In her address, the Honourable Commissioner described the commitment of His Excellency Alh Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Nutrition Champion) Executive Governor, Gombe State in tackling malnurishment in the state as he double the budgets of Nutrition in the Ministry.
The Children Complementary Food (CCF) is produced from local raw materials sourced within the State. The CCF is to manage / treat Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM), aimed at preventing graduation of MAM to Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM). It is distributed freely to all Local Government Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC).
A total of 200 women and youths were trained and empowered in the course of CCF production.
Collaborators / stakeholders in addressing malnutrition in State that were present at the occasion included District Head of Doma, LGAs Nutrition Focal Persons, Taimaka Project, Kishimi Shelter & Care Foundation, CS-SUUN, ANRIN Project, NNCH-Coalition and AKHCI. Other stakeholders include office of the First Lady (Jewel Care Foundation) and ARC-P.
